So How Dangerous is Texting While Driving?

Jeff Dunn (@Edudemic) posted an infographic on Edudemic that contains striking data points:

  • Texting while driving makes you 23X more likely to get in an accident.
  • Cell phones are responsible for 1.4 million car accidents annually; more than 14% of those are from texting.
  • More than 25% of the states do not have a law against, or limit, driving while texting.

The infographic still has more interesting data points, such as

  • Why text messages are limited to 160 characters
  • What driving, texting, and 70-year-old’s have in common

Hat tip to Jason Powers for the visualization.
